We bought a house with a gorgeous pool/spa combo . We have a 3 year old and I have anxiety. How would you make this safe? I would love an auto cover but is that even possible with the shape of our pool plus the spa attached? What other options do we have?
lori: Maybe a mesh pool fence around the edge of pool that is removable when u have guests, etc.
missy: Katchakid makes nets and fences.
heather: Baby fence!! They come in 10 foot sections.
kathry: The absolute best thing you can do, in addition to fence and pool alarm, is teaching your kiddo to swim!
su: The 3 other kids are great swimmers and the 3 yr old is getting lessons now.
randy: Swim lessons and be very strict about not going near the pool with out you.
mary: fence is def the way to go in my preference. No cover would have settled my anxiety with my 2 almost 3yr old. Ours already had the fencing when we moved in thank goodness!
rob: Get a house alarm system. It can beep every time a door opens.
jef: Mesh fence and door alarms to the pool area are a must.
jennifer: If you search my name I recently made a post about the same thing. My kids are a bit older though. I hope you find help. I’m in the same boat and I’m terrified.
marc: Dead bolt the back door and tons of swimming.
klaus: Baby fence. First thing u should buy ASAP. Too many horror stories of drownings.
jennifer: We can trade houses if it would make you feel better.
chris: We had an aluminum fence put in. Can’t access the pool from the deck that way. Not sure if that works with your backyard layout. Think of an aluminum fence around a pool at a resort – that’s what we have.
jeff: Also add a camera that detects motion like Arlo or Nest.
su: We have arlo – do I make it alert me when motion detected by pool?
jeff: All of that can be adjusted from the arlo app.
