Swimming Pool : It’s freezing outside make sure your pumps are running. So that your pipes don’t freeze and bust.
Der: Swimming Pool : It’s freezing outside make sure your pumps are running. So that your pipes don’t freeze and bust.
Jas: Question……if the pumps are in, the water won’t freeze no matter what temp? I am in Ohio and we have seen negative digits…just curious.
Der: Standing water has a freezing temperature of 32° moving water has a freezing temperature much lower. I’m not sure what that temperature is but I know that we don’t experience that temperature in South Carolina. If you get down to negative digits you might want to consult one of your local Pool Pros.
Sha: Oh my! Der is leaving the pump on the only thing we need do to keep pipes from freezing?
Der: I would need to know more about your pool. However most times moving water doesn’t freeze.
Sha: Der, salt water 🤷🏼♀️. It hasn’t been winterized in any kind of way. We don’t know what we are doing.
Der: Same thing applies if the water is moving then there is a less chance of it freezing.
If you have any concerns whatsoever call a local pool company. The $150 you pay them could save you thousands of dollars in repairs.
Der: For those that are following the progress of my pool freezing over.
Der: Anybody want to bet that the gap between my two ice crystals will be closed by the morning?
Sha: Is this your pool or a customers
Der: My pool
Sha: Why did you let it get like this!? 😀
Der: Because it looks cool! And it doesn’t hurt anything. The water is flowing and the only way to prevent it from getting like this is to shut the system down. And I refuse to do that. I am a “Evangelical” of “let your pool run year round!”
Sha: Der, mine is lol. And it does look cool!
