Swimming Pool, Slide, Diving Board, Hot Tub, and Waterfall… What more could yo…
Lazy Rivers, once reserved for talkative teenagers and noisy minors, has been upgraded in recent years for adults with underwater music, swim-up bars and private cabaña pods. Get ready to give up water slides and paddling zones to relax, sip cocktails and indulge yourself where sophisticated swimming – for the mature drifter – is the name of the game.
Place your bets on the 6.6-hectare Grand Pool Complex with five pools, three hot tubs, private cabañas and waterfalls that flow into the Backlot River – a 1,000-foot Lazy River with a flowing current.
Here you can get rid of your worries or enjoy your groove in one of the poolside party pods with day beds, bottle service and flat screen TVs where you can queue up for The Hangover or Oceans 11. Neighbouring Backlot River is MGM’s Wet Republic Ultra Pool, where DJs play on weekends from March to October. This is when the river changes from lazy to lively, which means you can spill your drink and no one will notice.
The Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World® knows how to do it right. Its 11,008 square metres of “drifters” flow under a 9-foot waterfall, past mild rapids and into a tropical rainforest.
Water cannons are strategically placed in various locations so you can cool off with a light spray or take cover in a hanging basket chair in The Cove. If you’re strolling along the river or enjoying an adult only pool (with underwater music), expect waiters to serve free frozen fruit plates and smoothie shooters every hour on the hour. If your nanny has the day off, you can join the kids at the water slide, family pool or splash zone, where choreographed interactive fountains throw water 30 feet into the air.
