Scott Birkmaier, president of The Big Splash in Setauket, N.Y., remodeled his own pool to accommodate more lounging and splashing for his family. He didn’t use steel for the tanning ledge and interior stairs. Instead, he opted for vinyl-covered accoutrements formed of concrete.
